Peace

Peace - just saying the word sounds peaceful.  Isn’t peace something we all seek after?  The noise and chaos of the world surely doesn’t bring us peace.  Our families and the dynamics that live within them often cause us worry and don’t bring us peace.  And if we really are honest, is peace something even possible this side of Heaven?   Can we walk this journey in peace?  Can we trust the One who promises to give us the peace we crave?

“He will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is stayed on You because He trusts in You?” Isaiah 26:3

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

“My peace I leave you my peace I give you…….” This scripture verse is found in John 14:27.  Jesus is speaking to his disciples, telling them that his peace is a gift that is different from the peace the world offers, and he assures them, "Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid".

Trusting in God is hard but I’m learning that it doesn’t have to be.  IF I believe Jesus is who He says He is (and I do) and IF I believe He has a plan and purpose for all things here (and I do) then I can trust Him with it all…..my life, my family, and my Eternal Salvation.  Even when we are afraid we can put our trust in Him and as He promises, “He will keep us in perfect peace if we trust in Him….” Our Lord is faithful and He doesn’t lie.

Our lives change - our families change but our Jesus never does.  His Word tells us as much in Hebrews 13:8 - “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.”

Help me Lord to always trust You and to keep my eyes on You so I can be filled up with Your peace.
